Description
Enrico Marchetti (1855-1930), born in Milan, became one of the finest Turinese makers of the 20th century. After starting his training in Milan, Marchetti established himself through the violin dealer Gioffred Rinaldi in Turin. He spent many years travelling between Turin and Curogné before settling in Turin to his death. Marchetti worked in his own personal style of elongated scrolls, deep-cornered purfling, and titled f-holes. Interestingly, his expert skill in reproducing Piedmontese models was considered to be borderline forgery.
This violin’s back and ribs are made with beechwood.
