Description
Alfredo Contino (1890– 1963) is known to be one of the greatest Venetian luthiers of his time. His work is characterized by a consistently high-quality sound and elegant appearance. Contino began his training at age 12 with Venetian master Vincenzo Postiglione. When Postiglione passed away, Contino assumed control of the workshop and continued its success. His personal success was recognized with a gold medal at the Padua exhibition of 1932 and an award at a Roman exhibition.
