This violin has a two-piece book matched maple back, displaying medium fine lateral flaming with deep optics. Ribs and scroll match. Top is of straight and finely grained spruce. Varnish is very light golden brown, like a light caramel or Khaki color, with a speckling of dark brown color, giving the impression that the instrument had a layer of dark color removed, but this is the original varnish. There is no other antiquing. Typical of Juzek instruments, the body is modeled on a Guarneri design with a Stradivari style scroll. The instrument is in excellent condition, with only a couple small chips in the varnish along the treble side edge. An excellent instrument with smooth sound and lots of character.
