Albert Nebel 601 Cello, Germany 2017

Albert Nebel 601 Cello

This handsome cello is made in Germany from European tonewoods. It has a two-piece book matched maple back displaying modest yet broad figuring. The ribs and scroll match. The top is of medium width, straight-grained spruce. The varnish is a medium dark burnt umber color with reddish highlights that looks like light chestnut in certain lights. Antiquing is modest, limited to thinning of the color on the edges and on the upper bouts to simulate player handling, and in the center of the back to simulate case wear.  The cello is built on a Stradivari model. The workmanship is very nice. Ebony pegs, Wittner tailpiece with integrated fine tuners, and carbon fiber endpin compliment this handsome instrument.
