L’Archet Brazil is the distributor, and brand name, for a group of independent Brazilian bowmakers. Every L’Archet Brazil bow is stamped with the name of the individual who made the bow, and that bowmaker’s bio is available on L’Archet Brazil’s website.
Due to overharvesting and depilation of the Brazilian rainforests, pernambuco (the first choice wood for violin, viola, cello, and bass bows) has become endangered. In order to protect the species, the Brazilian government has restricted the amount of unfininished pernambuco that can be shipped out of the country, they have also encouraged the development of local bowmaking, by helping those makers learn their trade in Europe and America; and L’Archet Brazil helps bring their bows to the market.
